A very local response to urban beautification.
The City of Canada Bay are undergoing a large foreshore redevelopment project in Rhodes, enriching parks and reconnecting the council with our remarkable harbour. Unfortunately the John Whitton Bridge Underpass was conceived during a period of less aesthetic consideration. How do we put this delicately… it was really ugly.
We explored the colourful history of the local area via the metaphor of a “history train”. Our journey invigorated 220sqm of wall, through native flora and fauna, farming, the industrial era and, more recently, the development of world class residential offering. The result? A vibrant and culturally significant urban beautification project for all to enjoy.
