Dexus approached us to help bring their new branding to life. As a company whose strengths include workspaces, collaboration and productivity they wanted their new look to be something people could explore, interact with and welcome into their space.

Research shows that a nice workspace – one with plants, art or natural light – can have a positive impact on output and productivity. Mindfulness was also up there with strategies to power up employees. So, we decided to merge the two into a modern superhero of an installation, to add a new dimension for Dexus workplace residents.

In an Australian first, we used the brainwaves of occupants to create unique artworks. Sounds a little Bladerunner, but the process was a calming experience. Users entered the installation, donned a headset and took a moment to concentrate. The wearable tech read brain activity and detected when a more mindful state had been reached. This then triggered digital paint to collide, making a unique artwork on the country’s largest lobby screen.

There was more to Brainwaves than just being really, really ridiculously good looking. The beautiful and complex visuals were created by our very own Lead Developer, Greg Poole, who spent hours locked away wrestling smooth particle hydrodynamics. The result was an incredible installation at the intersection of biology, art, business and technology.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land upon which we create, the Gadigal People of the Eora Nation. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.

Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
