We diverted the flow of Australia’s largest festival.
Vivid Sydney wanted to avoid the annual crush of 2.7 million people descended on Circular Quay to view their festival. We needed to create an attraction that would draw and hold people's attention elsewhere for at least 45 minutes.
We transformed Martin Place into an 8-bit wonderland, fusing a fledgling burger trend with a nostalgic aesthetic, creating an installation where you could eat, drink, and dance surrounded by retro-inspired light activations. We also built the world’s largest CRTV where you could play a giant game of human PONG.
At Vivid Sydney, people are keen to walk through: it’s not often an experience where people remain in the one spot for long periods of time. If you give them an environment to play in, you can hold them from longer. By fusing food, fun, and sitting, we created a (yummy) recipe for success.
