Open Colleges is an institution that thrives on helping people achieve something awesome, something they may not have realised they had inside them all along. They wanted to find a way to express this in a very real world way. An activation that was entirely non-digital to show personality and spread brand love.

Through an interactive installation at Westfield Parramatta we challenged passing shoppers to bring out their inner awesome. Our host would invite unsuspecting hero’s onto stage, where their friends and family would be asked questions to reveal what makes them amazing. As these answers unraveled, our amazing scribe artist illustrated the conversation live.

Using some high tech wizardry, we projected these illustrations onto a huge screen featured behind our hero. As the interview drew to a close, their portrait of awesome was revealed, then immediately syndicated on light signs throughout the shopping centre.

There were a lot of laughs, some tears and ultimately a remarkable unleashing of love. With 21 artworks completed in 4 hours, the diversity was immense, but everyone left with a stronger sense of self-esteem and an unforgettable experience with the Open Colleges team. This was all captured and cut into a case study video, to be amplified and distributed via digital and social channels.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land upon which we create, the Gadigal People of the Eora Nation. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.

Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
