Inspiring imagination and improving amenity for a re-emerging city.
Recovering from turbulent times means allowing new energy to be brought into recently deserted public spaces. Paper Moose was commissioned to create two activations that bring new life into these spaces so the public would want to use them again.
With a diverse community comes a diverse interpretation of comfort, utility, and design. We designed functional retreats that played with light and encouraged creativity while facilitating the public’s need for surfaces that allow for packing and rearranging - all incorporating the Canterbury City colour branding, form and curves.
Canterbury City wanted to revitalise spaces to not only represent their melting-pot of cultures but also to provide unique functionality. We created a practical, mixed-use social space composed of modular triangular forms that provided seating with a built-in banquet of edible plants, herbs, and vegetables - creating the perfect home-grown garden for every culture and cuisine.
Both micro-activations were inspired by Canterbury City’s vibrant environment; adopting the energetic and distinctive forms that come naturally in their community.
